Principal Investigator

MATTHEW CHAMPION
Matt received a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Iowa before pursuing a doctorate in biochemistry at Texas A&M. During his time at TAMU, Matt began to work for the Mass-Spectrometry-Proteomics group at Applied Biosystems (AB Sciex). He stayed-on after graduating, and was there until accepting a position at the University of Notre Dame as a Research Professor, a position he kept until becoming an Associate Professor in 2019.

Dr. Bonnie Jaskowski Huge 
Research Scientist 

Dr. Huge works in CE-based bio-analytical instrument development. Her primary research focus is development of instrumentation and methods that provide a comprehensive understanding of the microbial inhabitants of microbiomes.
Sacheela Wanigasinghe
Graduate Student 

​​Sacheela is a fifth year Biochemistry graduate student from Sri lanka. She graduated from University of Colombo in 2019 with a B.Sc in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry

​​Emily is a second year analytical chemistry graduate student from Elkhart, IN. Emily graduated from Central Michigan University in 2024 with a BS in Chemistry and a concentration in Chemical Technology.
Dr. Simon D Weaver
Postdoctoral Research Associate

Simon received his PhD in 2025 in Analytical Chemistry from Notre Dame. He is a joint post-doc shared between the Champion Labs, and the ND mass spectrometry and proteomics facility.
